I came across an article by Professor Theodore R. Sarbin published in 1997 entitled Hypnosis as a Conversation: Believed-In Imaginings revisited. It appeared in Contemporary Hypnosis vol. 14 no 4. I had only glanced at it previously. The other day I read it properly. As an attempt to characterize hypnosis it is certainly very different from the sort of thing one usually encounters.
